Faros is a one of a kind modern villa designed and recently built by Antonis Hadzidakis, a wellknown Cretan architect.
The style is minimal, the stone is local, the decoration is simple. We find it a great luxury but do not expect opulence. Its the location that counts and the house is designed with this particular location in mind.
Yes there is internet, a TV and Netflix but who needs that when you have the terrace, the pool, the garden with its old olive trees, the sea and the blue sky.
We are starting to rent our villa in 2018 to people who are, like we, looking for the wideness and stillness of the Cretan nature. You need a car and you can make fabulous daytrips in an unspoilt part of beautiful Crete.
Do not expect a dancing close by, for that you have to go to Agia Galini.
There are restaurants galore on the beach but not at walking distance. Shopping is in Agia Galini , half an hour scenic drive via Saktouria or very scenic but more demanding over the partly gravel coastal road.
We love driving there, do our shopping, take a coffee at the harbour have lunch there on on our way back.
Faros is ideal for walking and swimming and lazily enjoying the terrace, pool and garden. Swallows come to drink from the pool and there are plenty more birds. If you are very lucky you see dolphins passing or the moustached head of our local Monkseal.
